Synopsis: In winter of 2023, the New Directions in Evaluation (NDE) published a special issue (Volume 2023, Issue 180) celebrating the life of Dr. Stafford Hood and the origin story of culturally responsive evaluation (CRE). Dr. Hood’s lasting impacts in evaluation call us to consider the history, legacy, and future of CRE in the field of evaluation and how our work as evaluators can have influences locally and throughout the world.
The co-editors of this special issue will reflect on the process of bringing this work to publication and the importance of the kinship we share in the evaluation community as places of comfort, critical thinking, opportunities, challenges, and supports that we can look for as culturally responsive and socially just evaluators. Closely linked to CRE will be the work of the Center for Culturally Responsive Evaluation and Assessment (CREA), housed at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
CREA conference leadership will be there to share the programming for the eighth international CREA conference in Chicago, Illinois, USA April 8-11, 2025. They will offer insights, highlights, and visionary hopes for this international community gathering. The webinar will be informational and will allow for time to have discussion with virtual community members attending the webinar who wish to learn more about CRE the movement and CREA the community.
